Thursday Soup Run Volunteers – Permanent – Drivers

Our Soup Run goes out twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays. We currently have an opening for a Thursday volunteer who is comfortable driving both of our vehicles. We have a large van, and a station wagon, and both of these vehicles are automatic.  Please note that due to insurance requirements, volunteers driving our vehicles need to be over the age of 25.  If you are a driver, you may not be required to drive every shift you are on, but it is useful for us to have people trained up to drive so that if a driver cancels, we have replacements.

Our permanent volunteers are only obliged to do one shift per month, though if we are short, we may ask if any of our volunteers are willing to take on an extra shift.  We need volunteers who are reliable, as we have clients who depend on our service.  If you can’t guarantee that you will be able to make your shifts (sickness and urgent matters excluded of course), then perhaps you would be more suited to our standby list.

The van is used for our soup run which goes to 6 stops in the Rockingham area on Thursdays and Sundays, and the station wagon (Thursday only) goes out to several homes in Rockingham whose residents are financially disadvantaged. Prep starts at 3 pm at 23 Keppell Mews in Rockingham, and the run leaves there at 4:30 pm and returns at around 7:00 pm.

We are a Christian organisation, but we welcome people from all backgrounds to come and volunteer with us.

If you are interested in this position and would like more information, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator via the form below. If you haven’t received an email from us within 2 weeks, please check your junk folder.  Please only apply if you are genuinely interested in volunteering and you are reliable and will turn up to your shifts.

Soup Run Volunteers – Standby list

We are currently looking for volunteers to have on our standby list.  How the standby list works is that if one of our volunteers cancels a shift, or we are short of volunteers one month, we email the people on the standby list to see if they are available to help.  Once a more permanent position becomes available, those on the standby list will be the first in line.  Permanent volunteers are rostered on once a month, though sometimes they may take on an extra shift if we are short.

Our soup run goes out on Thursdays and Sundays.  On the Thursday soup run we have 2 separate runs.  There is the normal run that goes to stops around Rockingham that our clients come to, then there is a home run where we go the homes of those who are unable to make it to the sup run stops and are struggling to make ends meet.  The prep shift starts at 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm at 23 Keppell Mews, and the soup run leaves there at 4:30 pm and returns around 7 pm.

We are always looking for people who can drive our vehicles on their shift.  We have a van and a station wagon, both vehicles are automatic.  Please note that for insurance purposes, volunteers must be over the age of 25 to drive our vehicles.

Also, please note that due to insurance restrictions, volunteers must be over the age of 16 to travel in our vehicles.  Volunteers under the age of 16 are welcome to help out with the prep shift from 3 pm – 4:30 pm.

If you are interested in going on our standby list, please send an email by filling in the form below, and our Volunteer Coordinator will email you the relevant information. If you haven’t haven’t received an email from us within 2 weeks, please check your junk folder.
